Documentary Family Photos in Astoria Park, Queens, NYC

Astoria Park is one of those spots that just makes sense—plenty of space, killer views, and a mix of nature and city without the crowds. Whether it’s walking along the waterfront, hanging under the big old trees, or catching the bridge in the background, there’s always a good spot to shoot. And the best part? It changes with the seasons, so it always feels fresh but familiar. It’s one of those rare NYC locations that gives you variety without feeling overwhelming.

For this session, we kept things super relaxed—no stiff poses, no pressure, just letting life happen. With a baby under one, that’s really the best way to go. We strolled through the park, stopped whenever something caught their little one’s attention, and soaked in all those tiny moments—snuggles, big-eyed wonder, tiny fingers gripping onto mom and dad. The way they’d light up at every little thing made the whole session feel effortless. We even took a break to sit on the grass and let them explore—because sometimes the best photos come from simply letting kids be kids.

That’s what I love about shooting in Astoria Park—it’s easy, natural, and gives families space to just be. No overthinking, no forcing it. Just real moments, in a place that feels just right.
